I am reassembling a 948cc Bugeye engine that will be going into my Morris Minor. I am about to install the front crankshaft pulley. I have both the original pulley and a 1275 pulley with integral da

Richard The crank shafts are different diameters, the 1275 damper will not fir the 948 crank. Also, the timing cover hole is smaller. Of course with lots of work, anything is possible. -- Frank Clari

Frank, I have a rebuilt 948 & 1275 sitting side-by-side and believe it or not, I can put either pulley on either engine. The crankshaft diameters are both 1.000" and the pulley's outer (sealing) diam

I'm only a dumb engineer, but I would not mess with swapping dampers. Even the English had foot long 1930's equations on primary , secondary and tertiary harmonic vibrations. The damper and crankshaf

Ok, I stand corrected. Now I have a timing cover with a much smaller hole and a totally different seal, (a felt seal not rubber)................... I just went out and pulled the 948 pulley and insta

Possibly a 1500-1600cc MGA timing cover? My '59 MGA 1600 had a cover that fits that description. Leaked like mad. Regards, Glen Byrns the > same. The use of the dampener from the 1275 is highly reco

are preferable Production Metros all use a damped pulley, be they 1098 or 1275. I guess that this means that BL/BMC/BMW (Whatever) think they're best at damping the crankshaft vibrations at running s
