Any ideas as to cause of shimmey in front end (not wheels, they are perfectly balanced)? At about 55 and up, the front end, not the steering wheel, starts to shake. At times it is hardly noticeable,

Can a wheel be balanced, but "out of round"? My next course of action is to try someone else's mgb wheels on my car, as my wheels may be "egg shaped" (they are Minilite repros). ________ ___ / ______

I'm confused on a "front-end" shimmy that wouldn't be felt in the steering wheel. Can you help me out here? If the wheel is steady while the front end is shimmying, I would tend to think out-of-round

Actually, MY shimmy can be felt in the steering wheel. I did atempt a refurbishing of the column, ans there was much looseness. It was tight in all directions,but has since become loose again at the

Did you check the rubber pads that goe between the crossmember and the frame of the car? There are two rubber pads on each of the four huge bolts. They braek apart and fall out leaving a 1/4" gap. Ot

Yes, an out of round wheel can be balanced. When you have a vibration that does not show up as a vibration in the steering wheel then it generally comes from the rear of the car and may be "transmitt
