According to the M*ss Catalog there are two different tie rod ends. Those for Sprites and Midgets to about 72. The other for Midgets after GAN511.....So your 79 should be the same length as my 76. I

i could be mistaken but aren't the two tie rods a difrent diameter material? earlier being bigger diameter and later being a smaller diameter and in adition isn't there a difrence in the diameter of

Yes there are 2 different tie rod ends. Thin hole and thick hole as I call them. Or early (thick) and late (thin) I have just changed steering arms to accommodate the parts I had on hand. It's a toug

The difference between early and late model tie rods is the female threads where they screw onto the rack . Early are smaller than the late ones. The stud size is the same. I switched to a later rack

Yes--the older tie rods are much beefier and better made than the later ones. I am looking at the possibility of replacing the whole flimsy rack, ends, and steering arms on my '79 with an early model
