As I noted previously my fuel gauge was working backwards. After deciding it was indeed an ammeter type I reversed the wires. Guess what? It still works backwards. Larry Miller http://www.ado13.com S

Has the gauge ever worked properly since you got it? It would almost seem that there has to be a short in it, or it is defective for some other reason if it still works backwards with the wires rever

It is a new Smith's gauge and has never worked. Initially I thought that I had just hooked it up backwards. No need for a new one as it works quite well. When it gets to full I have about 1 gallon in

Just realized you are having problems with both your fuel gauge and temp guage. My money is betting that you do not have them wired through the voltage stabalizer. It is a little box, about 1"x1/2"x

If the gauge is new and it has never worked right, and it runs backwards no matter whether the wires are reversed or not, then the problem has to be in the way the gauge was originally wired at the f

But the voltage stabilizer doesn't reverse the current, it only controls the "rate" at which it flows, and even if it's hooked up backwards, or is eliminated altogether, that shouldn't change the way
