thanks craig... but how do i rectify the current problem? are you saying that it's the jets in the carbs? so i have to disassemble the carbs to clean the jets? and it isn't the fuel pump? billy ball

Not the jets, the float valves. Disconnect the fuel pump and run the engine till it cuts out. Reconnect the fuel pump and turn on the ignition, this may clear any small particle in the valve. If the
