If your Midget has the same type of pump as the MGB i.e. the SU reciprocating type that stops when the system is up to pressure the problem will almost certainly be electrical and not the diaphragm.

Hi Nory, I'd suggest that you check to see if gas is getting to the pump. The gas line from the tank to the pump could be clogged. If gas is getting to but not through the pump I'd remove and dismant

I think your 'good fuel flow' is probably inadequate. Even if the pump were on the way out e.g. supply-pipe non-return valve failing causing the rapid pumping, if enough fuel were reaching the carbs

They did use double ended pumps on things like Jags, and uprated ones for Twincams, but a regular single body pump is perfectly adequate for all your normal MG can suck. Bill S.
