I use a couple of small pieces of wood and a C-clamp to clamp the rubber hose and spillage is almost non-existant. I also carry a C-clamp in the toolbox for this and similar things. Geo Hahn 59 TR3A

You will get a bunch of gravity feed spillage if you are not prepared with something of the right diameter.. I think it's 5/16. Ask me hoe I know? I would recommend that you install a fuel shut off

If you shut off the fuel valve on the frame, you'll spill roughly a teaspoon of gas (maybe less if your hand is steady). Of course, then you'll have the 1/4 cup or so of gas in the bowl to dispose of
