My fuel line seem to have developed a crack where it enters the fuel pump. Right above that nasty HOT muffler!!!! Looks like the PO bent it down some and it probably has hit the rear axle off and on.

As I recall the fuel line is 5/16 tubing with compression fittings at the fuel pump and I believe the nut is a standard US thread but you should be careful not to damage the nut so it can be reused.

I went ahead and cut the line and removed it from the pump. A standard 5/16" compression fitting will work to put it back together. Now what I'm dealing with is the fitting that connects to the pump

Yes you can solder steel but there is little strength due to surface area of the tube and this is probably why you have a leak now. Also vibrations will eventually cause a crack in the solder; braze

What you are describing is the "dreaded" bubble flair. They are well made, and only finding a good source presents any difficulty. These are readily available in many straight lengths, from Sunbeam
