Does anyone have a suggestion on how to remove the fuel sending unit locking ring. Every book recommends using the service tool. I am not even sure how it comes off, I would assume it twists off. Can

Speaking as someone who has occasion to remove them more than once from two cars, it does just twist off. I have used a screwdriver as a drift and tapped it with a light hammer and had no problems.

You can twist it by hitting it with a hammer and chisel (or old screwdriver) and just tapping it so it turns. I did it this spring but I forgot which way it turns. Anyway, it should be obvious when y

Ouch, ick, yeow, you people are making me nervous. If you are talking about a fitting on the gas tank itself then please by all means use a brass drift pin to pound on, not a chisel or screwdriver.
