The standard plug has a 7/16" square male head, same as most other Triumphs, so yours has been replaced. (According to my GT6 catalog, I've never owned a GT6) Could be either, but I'd say hex is mor

The problem as I've experienced it is that the stock plugs are very apt to round off when you're removing them with an open-end wrench. For that reason it's better to use something that grips all 4
