ummm, thicker oil does not lubricate the lay shaft needle bearings well. why are you interested in trying to do this? a drain and fill is probably all you need. if it's that noisey, rather than keep

You're fine with the 20W50 GTX. Could even use their all-synthetic. But, I would not use _any_ additives. It sounds like you have a synchromesh that is going out. Not to be a hard*ss, but welcome to

RedLine makes a product called MTL (Manual Transmission Lube) and it is pretty good. It might help the second gear shift problem but not near as much as a new baulking ring on that hub! Kent 1960 Bug
