About 1/3 of the time I drive my car I need a jump start to get going again. We've tested the generator blah blah blah, and it looks like it needs either to be replaced or rebuilt. Before I get it wo

The significant difference that increases the price of the 948 generator is that it has a tachometer drive on the end of the unit. The rear housing is threaded, and the armature is keyed. Except for

If the engine dies every time you turn on the headlights, suspect a bad voltage regulator instead of or as well as your generator. When the generator is bad, the battery should take up the slack whe

I still have the stock generator in my Bugeye. Halogen headlamps, CB radio, and a CD player. So far I have not had a problem with the generator keeping up. If you do not need the tachdrive you shoul

Yes, I do have a mechanical tach. I'm not thinking about putting a huge stereo in, there's just no room, and that's what makes my Honda so fun to drive. Just something simple, a CD player and speaker

I was just checking the output on my 'stock' bugeye generator the other night, and got a reading of 12.4 volts at idle, and it went up to 15.4 at around 2500 rpm. (I may need to adjust my regulator)

Agreed, the voltage regulator is easy to check and adjust -- adjust it slowly though! A bit too much of a turn of the screw and, watch out, 27 volts! A bit more than the battery wants, no doubt. The

Don't see why not, as the generator is now providing electrical power, and it is connected to the car body via the engine earth strap. I understand that this is not a good thing to do intentionally,
