I am miles away from putting my drive train back in, but gave some thought to inserting the driveshaft while the end of the transmission is still accessible and then sliding the whole deal back in. I

That's exactly what I did. I guess I thought that one was supposed to do it that way. Anyway, it worked pretty slick and I didn't have to worry about it not mating on the transmission. -- Larry Dicks

Just slip it one when there are just a few inches before it's all the way hoem. Just leave enough room to slip your hand in, it only takes a second... done it many times. Just be sure the engine is
