I have a tube of Girling Rubber Grease which I bought many years ago for assembling brake calipers on MGAs and MGBs. Since this stuff is designed to lubricate without damaging rubber, I have also use

Moss sells this same stuff in little foil packets. Expensive for the quantity, but one pack is enough to lube several calipers for assembly.

Thanks again for the tip. I use graphite grease on metal pieces and threads for the same reason, so I can take it apart again should the need arise. I got wise to this with sparkplugs especially when
