Early (Mk1 and 2) Spits have the same top arrangement as the TR4. And speaking from experience, I can truthfully say that here in Arizona it requires a building permit! I don't know if that is true

Responding to my "hood putting up contest" question, Andy Mace replied that he's had: "NEVER a problem with a Herald, arguably the easiest Triumph top to erect: pull up, two latches, drive away. :-)

The last time I participated in a "Top Erection" Contest, it was a TR3 that was provided for all competitors, and the only interior was the seats, I believe. Of course, simulated rain started falling
