Taking No.9 first, if this happens your float or valve is bad, or possibly you have an aftermarket fuel pump with excess pressure. Until you fix that you are wasting time with all the other symptoms.

I took off the overflow tube that goes to the canister and blew through it and gasoline flowed from the run on valve vent hose. This must mean the canister is full of gas. (For the sake of the list,

I'll try this today. Both carbs do have new valves in them, so I'll try your fuel pressurizing method first and if that doesn't work, put the old valves back in. Are gross jets the way to go with HI

I've never used Gross jets, I have seen quite a few reports of problems with them and going back to standard valves. Other than the 'infant mortality' I've only had one replacement in two cars over a
