Lurk mode of, Help mode on. I have a 1979 Midget with a leaking left rear axle. Apon loosening the half shaft a small amount of hypoid came out which I assume is natural. I also noted that there was

I'd say try to pin point the leak. It should be obvious, after removal of the brake drum, if the leak is coming from the rear (wheel bearing) seal. If it's dry back there, then just do the gasket and
