Check for spark at the plugs then check for correct timing. After a lot of cranking the plugs should have quite a strong fuel smell, if not be soaking wet and flooded. No smell = no fuel to the cylin

I don't know what no spark getting to the fuel sounds like, as opposed to any other reason why the engine cranks over but won't fire up, but a problem with the ignition switch could conceivably cause

One other thing to consider is the timing. I made this mistake myself recently, and it produces symptoms similar to what you are describing. My distributer came loose and slipped to a severly retard
