I have seen two sell in my area ( Bay Area for a Bugeye) at around 600 dollars in about the shape that you describe. I saw one in Sonoma (Napa Wine Country) go for 1400. It was one of those eBay deal

Check out mine on www.justbrits.com. It is definitely a factory bugeye hard top purchased before 1965 and painted to match the car. The shape is more streamlined for most of the aftermarket hardtops.
