I was looking at the balancer for timing marks and all I find is a dimple on the face of the pulley. I am guessing that this is it. Haynes refers to a notch on the outer edge of the pulley, so maybe

Fitted a timing chain cover off a mini, which has the little serrated marker tag on the upper edge wher it can be seen from above. Indexed tdc with a dial guage on piston No. 1, and then made a tdc
