This should be a simple task. I need to get the head off my 77 Midget. I have several shop manuals and one says to leave the manifolds on, and one says to remove them. Here is what I did. 1. removed

Or.... feed some soft rope (like clothes line) in through a spark plug hole then turn over the motor by hand. Guaranteed to lift the head up with out damage.

The "rope trick" works >great< if you can get a wrench cleanly on the crank nut. Might be tough to do on a 1500, though. It's nigh on impossible to access the crank pulley nut. You can turn it over w

Of course the nuts have be off , and no the studs do not have to be out. and I said "by HAND" How in the heck do propose "$500 to $700" damage by doing this by hand? My hand isn't strong enough to do
