Hi listers, On Monday I removed the head and manifolds from my 52TD to send them to Lawrie Alexander for some of his magic. The head had been on the engine since I put it together about eight years/7

Two things help in stud removal. Soak with PB Blaster or Liquid Wrench and use a stud remover. I have an old stud remover that I bought at Sears probably more that 40 years ago when I worked on flat

Bud, Actually one thing helps the best and that is patience. All the suggestions are great and should be followed but do it slowly and carefully. Use the chemicals and allow plenty of time for them

If one broke at 60, and the others came off at 70 without breaking, then I think you just had a bad stud. Probably better to break then than on reassembly or in use. nut stud just /// /// mgs@autox.t

Bud, Might also try tapping the end of the stud with a hammer (protected by double nuts) as you turn, similar to the technique used with an impact screwdriver. Good luck -- Chris Attias Aptos, CA '64
