Jim, could be that the bulbs were just about to go, and did. I would test the bulb socket with a volt ohm meter to see what your are getting at the socket. Probably less than 12 v. Also check the gro

Lucas headlights are no loner sold in the US. But I continue to find many at local bone yards. They usually go for $.50 to $1.00. You can usually pull the whole headlight bucket which may be the same
