Tim and Steve My crank nut measures 1.665 across the flats. This is about .020 less than 1" 11/16 (1" .6875). My 12 pt. 1"7/8 socket was too big and the 1'5/8 is too small. Dave Schweninger BN7-II

I use an 1 3/4" on mine and it works fine, maybe just slightly too big, but on that big a nut I don't think it will strip. I have a 4 cylinder, don't know if the sixes are different. Greg Lemon 1954

I have run into the same issues and have had some success with metric sizes and when all else fails a well tightened 15" Crescent wrench and a 3 LB rubber coated dead blow hammer. Cheers, Gary Fuqua
