Tsk, tsk, tsk...you didn't state what year your B is! I can't remember what year the breakdown is (CB vs RB?) but in earlier B's the ground is up front on the engine and on newer B's the ground strap

If you have no big braided wire or copper wire ground strap from the engine/tranamission to the metal vehicle body and the cables are acting as a ground, it's a wonder they haven't melted away, since

This reminds me of the disaster I had, when this cable in the dash hit the rheostat and by this making a short circuit. Part of the loom burnt and I had to fix it... I had to rplace the heater cable
