Thanks to all who responded to my question on getting the knobs off. Have found the hole and "plunger" in the knob but they sure don't move. Hopefully sitting overnight with a little WD-40 will help.

Careful with the little pin - I've lost it as I pressed it too hard. Now the know is not really fixed anymore to the shaft. With some paper in between the knob is fixed sufficiently not to fall off.

sitting overnight with a little WD-40 will help. If that doesn't work, try Liquid Wrench, which works better at these jobs. Or Kroil, or PB Blaster is my favorite. RH
