How about a loose intake manifold or loose carburetor. Bugsy's manifold came loose and idle kept getting faster and faster. At 3,500 RPM I finally pulled him into garage. Did lots of poking around an

You can check for a vacuum leak by spraying WD40 or carb cleaner or some other flamable liquid around the intake while the car is idling. If the idle changes when you spray, it is sucking the liquid
