I had a question concerning my '79 mgb on the highway. I have a stock engine, with a Weber DGV Carb, and the standard 4 speed w/o overdrive. When I get on the highway, I normally get up to about 60-6

Tony, I have a similar setup on my MGB and at 60-65 I hit the same rev range. The only thing you can do is swap the old 4speed tranny for one with an overdrive. Don't bother asking if you can add an

I don't think you should worry. I drive my MGA at 70-75 mph with the revs @ 3700 and have had no problems, not even one breakdown in the @7k miles put on this year. My B revs at @ 4k at @ 70mph, if

Tony it's not a problem driving with rpms between 3500 and 4500. I broke my 72 B in new when the speed limits were 70-75 in Oregon. The usual speed in those days was a tad under 15 over the speed lim

FWIW I have driven my car from Cleveland Ohio to Denver Colorado and back a few times. Each time driving nonstop for 18 to 20 hours and turning 4500 to 5000 RPM average. My car has never complained o

Tony, I'm turing similar revs in my 76B. It seems like a lot of activity under the hood - but without a lot of sound insulation (especially with the hood up (not that I ever put it up!)) it sounds wo

Tony, It is purely a matter of perception on your part. What you have to do is push the revs up much higher for a while and then you will feel comfortable at this 'low' rev range. I drove my old '68
