I think the hood scoop is more of a styling exercise as the air to the cooling system is through the grill and the deflector at the bottom of the radiator, however any fresh cool air into the engine

The odd thing to me is that the scoop is partially opened. I thought the one on my 69 was closed from the factory and that someone had bent it down to get some air into the engine compartment. Lookin

I think you'll find that the scoop on the bonnet and the raised section behind it is only there to give the necessary clearance between the bonnet and the top of the engine and radiator. Any airflow
