I'm gradually cleaning up the Tiger's behind the dash wiring. As usual, I thought I had solved my what I think was an ignition problem, with the engine suddenly stalling, or giving a serious "bump" w

I strongly doubt the short length of wire you are using would cause the intermittent problem you describe. But I am uncertain as to why you needed to add three more loops around the pickup, unless y

Bob: I use the Pertonix II and their 50,000 volt Flamethrower II coil (which needs a full 12 volts to run, and which I've tested for and it gets just that) and for this, they do recommend bypassing t

I have the Pertronix II and the flamethrower coil in my tach test setup, and I just received (on Friday) some 0.15 ohm current-sensing resistors that I'll be wiring in parallel to make a resistor sui

That Flamethrower coil must be drawing quite a bit of current, more than a standard coil or the 8.5 amperes Pertronix says is correct. Theo says that 0.05 Ohms is "less than 10% of the claimed resis

Theo and Bob: Thanks for the very detailed ideas on what may be going on. I've printed out both your posts for reference and will be messing about behind the Tiger's dash and under the hood tommorow

Bob is correct on all counts. Their Flamethrower coil has a claimed resistance of 0.6 ohms. This would (as Steve Laifman has previously pointed out) give you a DC current of 20 amps. That is a lot, b
