I've also got a 77B. It's always done this even with a new throw out bearing. Mind you the bearing is not a roller type but a simple doughnut of what I assume to be graphite or some other slick solid

I also have this with my MGA. Actually I use it to my advantage. It starts easier when the trans is in neutral with the clutch dis-disengaged (? the foot OFF the pedal). The engine turns over faster

True - the idle speed is indeed supposed to drop as the clutch pedal is depressed. That's why the manual says that final idle speed adjustment must be made with the clutch pedal depressed. What Rick

My 78B does exactly the same thing. When the clutch is out, the car = idles at @ 1000 rpm. As soon as I push in the pedal, the revs drop to @ = 850. I'll be watching to see what others have to say a
