Well, I found the reason for my glowing warning lamp. My car is different from the Haynes diagram which should apply to it, or I'm looking at the wrong one, or something. According to what I've seen,

Not exactly, ignition switched circuits are fed by white wires, but ignition switched AND fused circuits should be fed by green wires. Err, this may be what you just said, but it could be read a few

An ignition relay was fitted to late model B's to limit the current through and hence volt-drop in the ignition switch and wiring although the white still fed things like the ignition warning light,

If you have a universal ISO relay (ice cube size) then it is improbable that it is an original fit. Maybe a previous owner had added extra loads to the accessory circuit and was getting too greater

Whilst the relay may not be original (i.e. it had ISO numbers instead of W1, W2, C1 and C2) the circuitry almost certainly is because white/brown is the correct colour from the relay to the 2nd fuse.

Hi Rick, The DOA relay was a Lucas, about the same size as the ISO Bosch but is cylindrical rather than cubical, so it doesn't fit the ISO socket. The pin spacing and enumeration is identical to the
