My '78 B has an engine rebuilt to have dual carbs, high performance engine, etc... (iow, it's not stock). I use it as a daily driver, and yet I occasionally get this intermittent power loss.... I can

Check the ignition to all plugs. Sounds like it's dropping down to 3 cylinders...check rotor, distributor, plug wires and plugs. If you can, pull over when the befuddlement starts and pull plug wires

I can think of two things to check. 1. What type of distributor are you using? There is a small wire inside the points type distributor that can break after years of flexing. Often it looks OK extern

Is the tach dropping too? If so it is the ignition LT feed through the coil and distributor. If you can rig up a timing light where you can see it while driving watch for any irregularity in flashing

Well, that was a couple of ideas that I hadn't expected... First, the car has electronic ignition, so we can forget about the distributor angle. As for the coil, well, I'm not sure how quickly it tak

Even with electronic ignition it is still the distributor that initiates and distributes the result. By tach dropping I mean flickering about or dropping instantly to zero when the problem occurs. If

Hi Paul, I'll watch more closely, but my impression has been that the tach still follows the engine. The engine gets erratic, and so the tach gets erratic, but it still seems to properly reflect the

Well, I'll check the groundings wherever possible, and will start with the fuel filter, and we'll see what happens. Like I said, since I can't make it happen on command, it's hard to tell when it's f

Tach drop from fuel problem will follow the engine speed exactly. Tach drop from problem in LT feed will be erratic and drop faster than engine speed. My experience with bad LT tach drop is that it j
