- Stupid question, I know. But Waxoyl recommends thining with white spirits. And I can't seem to find the translation in any of my books. I'd hate to use the wrong thing and damage the paint. Thanks in

- Yes, Standard hardware store $1.99 paint thinner would also work and not hurt the paint. I use it as bug/tar remover on all my cars. Ray Easterby 72BGT 88Xj40

- If the point is to make the stuff flow a little better, I've also seen recommendations to simply let the can sit in a bath of hot water for a while before applying (from the Porter book maybe?) Skye

- White sprites is mineral spirits. It is the British term for the same material. If you are use it for something important I would recommend that you by a name brand. There is a wide range of quality

- You're right. As it turned out, I didn't need to thin the stuff with mineral (I mean, white) spirits. I poured a pot of boiling water into a bucket and put the can in it. That thinned it out plenty.
