Sounds like a carb problem. Either the float is stuck or the needle seats have disappeared due the modern stuff they call gas. Buy a 'zip' kit for your carb and rebuild it. It should cost about $12 a

Thanks everyone. It looks like the problem was me. I put the fuel line into the crank case vent nipple on the carb. I did do the finger over the fuel line trick (thanks) and managed to spray gas ever

Perhaps the needle valve is not seating when the float does (or doesn't) rise. This shuts off the fuel pump when it senses back pressure. Yes, on both. -- ____________________________ Steve Laifman

i think an oil change is in order. All that gas just went past the base of the carb, down the intake and into the oil pan. You'll learn the meaning of the Big Bang Theory if you try to start it now!
