You don't need the vernier adjust for a road motor. It is useful when you using a rolling road dyno to optimise the HP for a competition motor and chasing the last few HP by fine tuning the cam timin

For ordinary street use, the "line up the dots" will work pretty good.\ That said, you should be aware that when a cam is re-ground, many times to acheive the specs for the new cam, it is neccessary
