You say the fuel pump should stop eventually after turning on the ignition without starting. Are you sure this is the normal procedure? Mine just doesn't stop puckering and unpuckering. Cheers, Gus

Yes, the fool pump should stop. Or, at best, go from a high rate of pucka-pucka to a very slow rate...pucka ......pucka..............pucka....................... pucka...............................

This is true for Genuine SU fuel pumps. Though I do not own one, I have heard that the popular Facet replacement pumps never stop puck - er, ticking. Somebody more knowledgeable either confirm or ref

Correct, the Facet ones are "on" permanently whereas the SU ones will switch off when the pressure gets up to a certain limit. Giles Durham/Hexham UK
