There is a high-pressure test you can do. My recollection is that the thread in the hole is a British thread, but I don't recall which it is. Are you _sure_ you reinstalled the pump piston correctly?

Your 800mA is correct, have you verified this is being drawn when in the car? The easiest way to do this is by locating where the yellow in the main loom joins the yellow or yellow/red in the gearbox
