In racing ... like comedy ... timig is everything. I see this as a potential cam grinders problem. When 50% of your power comes at what would have to be at least 1 degree after TDC, the problem and t

Yeah, timing is everything, that's why cam lobes/camshafts are on a path towards eventual extinction and that has already happened in Formula 1 engines with their pneumatically operated valves. Elect

Actually the valves in current F1 engines are not pneumatically operated. Nitrogen pressurised pistons replace valve springs in an otherwise conventional overhead cam layout.. Jim in Palmdale

What would you suggest for a dielectric for 80k volts that is only around 3/16 thick. Them plug wells in a hemi are not all that big so air won't help much.. Dave

Lance, when I talked to MSD about their 44 amp mags that top fuel dragsters use, the guy told me that only 1 amp made it to the spark plugs.(Still probably leathal) I was interested in using a 44 on

Don't know what kind of dielectric would be needed for 80k volts, but they must be much higher than 30k volts if the magnetos are pumping out 45 amps. Even if there are substantial losses along the

With those mags i doubt if less than one tenth of the power gets to the plugs. I would suspect the 45 amps is arrived at in some off the wall way that has nothing to do with the actual current at the
