The Texas A&M Sports Car Club uses the Race America system. We've never had any problems with light impacting the operation of the system, though we have found the sensors to be sensitive to moisture

We have our Banner reflective lights mounted in 2' of schedule 40 PVC pipe that's mounted to a tripod. The pipe give a good line to sight down and protects the lights from the sun, rain, and (I hope)
