Peter, I've torn apart a few A type ODs and non of them had anything called a layshaft. Just checked the parts book and they don't list a layshaft either. The rotation is along a single axis except

Peter-I think you mean mainshaft as there is no layshaft in the OD unit. The layshaft ( also called a countershaft)lives in the bottom of the mainbox, is plentifull, and cheap. The OD mainshaft on th
