Many thanks to all who responded, my H6s now appear to be leak free (fingers crossed). The leaks occurred because the large clamp nuts weren't tight enough. This let gas leak out the bottom, and also

Actually, the black smoke probably has everything to do with the leaking, since it sounds like your leak is from the jet seals, and the upper jet seal leaks into the carb throat ... Do you have the
