I never "remember" which is which. But it is easy to figure out. The reason that LH threads are used it to keep the rotation of the part from loosening the fastener. So if the axle rotates primarily

If I'm not mistaken, I remember a "LH" stamped on the side of the nut also

The rear axle nut on the left side is a left hand thread. The one on my Midget did not have any marking stamped on it, and the book didn't say anything about it being LH thread. Ergo, I torqued hell
