I hope the answer is that it doesnt really matter and you dont need to do anything special in replacing the piece since my car came with out the lower cruciform so I bought a replacement piece and h

We did mine a while back...it's pretty much welded from where you see. You should be able to grind off the edges. You may have to chisel some, but it shouldn't give you too much trouble. Mine needed

As Todd says the welds are pretty much where you see them -- on the bottom. The frame was off when we did mine. I would think the upper cruciform (T shirt) would hold things together. When the lower
