Maybe it depends on what you mean by "road", and whether you're looking for early vintage or modern racing. How about the ultimate vintage racer restoration, Sebring MGA #43? http://safetyfast.homest

Larry - the only problem with coupes is that they are heavier (and therefor slower) and you can't take all that much out of them. Otherwise they do look nice, and were the car of choice for long dist

I've not been around MG coupes, are they really heavier? In american iron the convertibles are heavier than the coupes due to the additional steel they need to put in the frame to keep the car stiff

There is a very simple solution to this problem. Take out your hack saw and chop the roof off. There is precedent. Steve and Roger Willis of Scotland Yard fame had an MGA twin cam race car, that had

Setphen, they probably are heavier, but I can't find the factory weight of a coupe so I'm not sure. Remember an MGA is built on a frame. That sucker is big enough to be stable with or without a top.

I guess body stiffness doesn't count for anything on a body-and-frame car? On the other hand, a BGT should be massively stiffer than a B roadster, and have decent aerodynamics (if slightly more front

And anyways, the MGA and B were first released as roadsters, then coupes were added, not the other way around, which is when you need to add reinforcements, right? I know the MGB GT weighed around 15

An MGA 1600 roadster weighs about 2050 on the street with fluids. A Twincam is a good hundred pounds more. A coupe weighs about half way in between - it has all the extra glass and steel for the roof
