This is a change from my earlier message; I've found the casting in the side of the block of my '59 MGA where the tach would connect. All that's there is the casting shape with 2 holes for the bolts.

The engine you have may be out of a Metro or an Austin A50/55 as they do not have tachs. My own Austin is fitted with a 1500 as you have described, two studs, no tach drive hole. I don't have a tach
