There is no method, but in desperation I might try to uncrimp the cases and see how it goes from there. The real world solution is to buy one for $38.95 from Moss. Also noticed yesterday one on ebay

Before you rush out and buy a replacement starter cable maybe you should try the one on my MGA. The pin on mine also goes almost all of the way in and I think that is normal. If you're not concerned
