Yes, the fluid always goes back into the rad. when the engine cools. The reason for this is the pressure cap is on the overflow tank, the original rad cap is replaced with a flat cap off Austin Amer

I have fitted my MGA with an overflow bottle. It was not easy. I used a stock MG windshield washer bottle without the footvalve. I had to drill a couple holes to mount the bracket, and I drilled them
