Hi All A friend is trying to rebuild the rear axle from a 1965 MGB (early style rear axle). He has measured the size of the nut that holds part of the axle assembly to the housing as 1 15/16. He has

When I did the same work on a Midget I owned, I went down to my favorite tool store and spent about $80 on a 'complete' 3/4 inch drive socket set made by a quality outfit by our friends in mainland C

I think I can answer this one, Glenn! (That's a first: Me 'answering' a IF it's like the MGA axle nut, it's actually 1-59/64" or 1-61/64". It's odd and it's 8-sided. The Hi-Lo parts lady figured out

Glenn, I found the 1 15/16 socket at Sears in a 3/4 drive, added a 3/4 to 1/2 adapter and removed the axle nut with a three foot pipe on my breaker bar. Hope that helps.

I don't understand your friends problem, each of those sources you've listed has sockets in that size, and larger. I've got 1 15/16 Craftsman and Snap On at home. No, they aren't in the store normal
