- Actually, in many instances these holes aren't made to drain out water which comes in because the hood was down. They're installed to drain out the etching acids, water, and sometimes a primer coat

- There are two distinct types, rubber and nylon (?). The rubber ones give a distinct impression of being there for occasional use. An example is the presence of one on the floor of the trunk (boot).
